Humanity in Chaos Prologue

The wind howled like a wounded beast through the jagged peaks of the Whispering Range. Clouds crawled low across the sky, brushing the craggy mountaintops like ghostly fingers. Below the ridgeline, hidden behind a curtain of ivy and stone, stood a series of caves.

No matter if you stand at the bottom of mountains or wander through the Whispering Range, you will never find these caves. They are perfectly hidden from the world, from the eyes of humans. Because there are some otherworldly creatures living there, they don't want humans to enter into their dimensions.

If we peek into the cave, we would find a sulking figure sitting on the throne. Darkness has enveloped his body, making it difficult for us to see his face. But, the pain was prominent in his posture. The sagged shoulders and head in between the hands show how much the man–or other worldly creature–is suffering.

Around him, four figures were sitting cross-legged on the floor cushion. A single ray of light was illuminating their faces, and we could say tension and pain in their expressions. They were exchanging anxious glances with each other, and then gaze at their lord with helplessness.

"We are the weakest feelings in the world. Humans don't give importance to us.” The cracked voice of the lord echoed in the dark cave, making others alarmed.

“But my lord, it is now the twenty-first century. Humans must have changed in this century, as they have become more educated and more modern.” One of them said, at which the Lord gave a pained smile to him.

“Innocence, some humans don't even know that we exist. They have become the most brutal creatures of the world.”

At this, dead silence fell upon the cave.

“But, Lord Humanity, Hope was telling me that more schools have been built, more technologies have come, people are more educated and more sophisticated. NGOs and religious institutes have come who are giving more awareness to Humans. Now, human hearts must have been softened and they must be looking for us. Just your one big hug will melt their hearts. Trust me." Love added in with hopeful eyes.

At this, a bitter smile etched on lord Humanity's face.

“If Humans can make different bombs, they can discover the sources of destruction, they can find an enemy to kill, they can have courage to murder someone; then they can also have the courage to find us. If they still haven't found us, it means they still have not acknowledged our existence.”

“But, why are they doing it?” Friendship asked with tears swimming in his eyes.

“The answer lies in the third cave to our right.” Humanity smiled bitterly at which all of them nodded with slumped shoulders.

At that moment, all of them felt more darkness in the cave. The one ray of light illuminating the cave diminished, and suffocation started tearing up the insides of everyone present in the cave.

All of their eyes snapped toward the entrance of the cave from where a black figure was walking away. Cloaked in a garment stitched from the night sky itself; flowing, weightless, and glinting faintly with stars long dead; he moved with neither haste nor hesitation.

There was calmness surrounding him while two ravens perched on his shoulders. Their eyes shimmered unnaturally—like they knew far more than a bird should.

“Where are you going, Death?” Humanity’s tired voice stopped his flowing movement, and he turned his front toward the entrance of the cave. The face was clocked in darkness so no one could see death. But, we could hear his eerie calmed voice.

“There is a terrorist attack going on in a school.” A simple one line told the full story to Humanity, and a tear trailed its way on his cheek.

Death moved away from the cave with the same eerie calmness.

Instantly, the whole Whispering Range echoed with dark chuckles and laughter, coming from the third cave to the right.

'I can't bear more violence and more wars now.’ Humanity’s defeated voice echoed in the deadly cave.

At that moment, Hope entered the cave with a tear-stricken face.

“My Lord, I just realized one thing.” Hope said with a firm tone. All the eyes raised toward him.

There are different kinds of humans in the world.” Hope raised three fingers for everyone to see.

“One type is weak, they are being oppressed by the superpowers of society. They are anxiously looking for us, and hug me as soon as I step near them.” Hope continued.

“The other type is barbaric or arrogant, they are oppressing and killing the weak. Their hearts are looking for us desperately, but societal pressure, traumas, and expectations have added a hard cover on their hearts and brain.”

“It means they are not the lost case.” Innocence said with a glint.

“A lot of them are.” Humanity said. “They have chosen to be barbaric even when others chose love. So, if a human makes a choice, they stubbornly remain on it.”

Humanity continued with slump shoulders. Silence again prevailed in the dark cave when Hope decided to tell the third category.

“The last type are ignorant humans, and they are the worst one.” Frustration was in Hope’s tone. “ They don't know anything about the chaos of the human world. Their sole motto of life is to "eat, drink and be merry". They don't bother to know about the issues or problems of other people. They don't even realize how the chaos of society is affecting their lives. They don't even know that injustice, lack of love, wildness, and pride of superpowers of society is creating chaos in the human world.” There were tears and impatience in Hope’s tone.

“But, aren't there schools and social media in the world?” Friendship asked.

“Educational institutes and social media are just focused on concealing truth from humans, and spreading lies in society. They want youth to just earn and get entertainment. They are making their brains and physical powers useless through technology, lies, and propagandas.” Humanity replied.

“But, there are humans who have used these channels to stop barbarism from society.” Hope yelled. “So, if there are ignorant humans in the world, it is their mistake. Why are they so busy in the world of money and entertainment? Is a human's life worth less than a piece of currency paper?” Tears gathered in Hope’s eyes.

Humanity just gazed at her defeated form with sad eyes. Eventually, he turned around

and looked at the white diary present on the side table.
