Chaos Chapter 3

Hooriya was sitting on her chair with a pen in her hand.

In front of her, a diary was opened and she was going to write on it.

"But my lord, it is now the twenty-first century. Humans must have changed in this century, as they have become more educated and more modern. Hope was telling me that more schools have been built, more technologies have come, people are more educated and more sophisticated. NGOs and religious institutes have come who are giving more awareness to Humans. Now, Human's hearts must have been softened and they must be looking for us. Just your one big hug will melt their hearts. Trust me." Innocence said this to Humanity.

Humanity smiled at him.

                        ................

Amna started telling about the cruelty of the educated MPA's family.

"They burn me with iron. This scar is due to it." She said while pointing toward a scar on her face.

"They don't give me food whenever I fail to complete the chores." She added.

"They cut my skin off my arms in anger." Tears started streaking on her cheeks and she hiccuped.

         ......................

"If Humans can make different bombs, they can discover the sources of destruction, they can find enemy to kill, they can have courage to murder someone; then they can also have the courage to find us. If they still haven't found us, it means they still have not acknowledged our existence." Humanity said with sadness.

Hooriya glanced at the clock and realized that it is time of prayer. So, she quickly stood from her place and went into the washroom for ablution.

              ....................

"Leave my office all of you at this instant." SP Farhan shouted at Amna's parents and MPA's lawyer. He was furious after listening to Amna's story.

Amna became afraid of his tone and stepped back from him with wide horror eyes.

They all left the office; leaving Fatima, Farhan and Amna in the office.

Fatima gently smiled at Amna. Farhan started filling the details.

"I'm glad that you are doing something for this poor girl. Otherwise, I started to become worried for her." Farhan said casually while writing. Fatima glared at him.

"And I'm disappointed that you haven't done anything for the girl. If I haven't reached here, her parents will have taken her with them." Fatima said this with anger.

"I shall never let this happen Miss Fatima. I'm the officer who has taken notice of the girl's condition, I call the media for coverage, I call her parents so that they can report the case." Farhan said in an eerie tone while looking in her eyes. He was getting annoyed at Fatima's comments.

"But why media coverage? " Fatima asked him with creases on her forehead.

"It is due to media coverage that you are here. Different NGOs and political figures will now support this case because it will now give them fame and recognition. They have no interest in Amna but they will still show sympathy to her just because it will give them love from the public. And this public power can do miracles in our society." Farhan said with a lot of patience in his tone as the lady in front of him was getting on his nerves.

Fatima remained silent at his words as his every word was a bitter truth. Her boss had been doing press conferences on this case just because he wanted public sympathy and love. She took a deep sigh and nodded her head in acknowledgement.

             .............................

Fatima and Amna were sitting in the back seat of the car. Amna was now under the care of the NGO because her parents were also a threat for her.

"Ma'am, where do you want to go?" Driver asked her.

"Dr. Shahid's hospital" Fatima said while calling Zonia's number.

Zonia was checking a patient when her mobile rang. She received the call and Fatima started speaking on the other side without taking any breath. Fatima told her about Amna's case and informed her that she is bringing Amna to hospital so that she can get treatment. Her scars need medicine and attention.

Zonia cut the call and went to Dr. Shahid's office.

Two visits in the same day; she was getting anxious while entering the office. His words were still echoing in her mind.

"What do you want Dr. Zonia? " he asked her while sipping the coffee.

"Sir, Have you seen Amna's case in the news? " she asked.

"Yes, I have seen it. May Allah have mercy on her." Dr. Shahid said in a nonchalant tone

"Sir, my friend is bringing her into this hospital. She wanted us to give treatment to her." Zonia informed him with hesitation.

"Your friend? " Dr. Shahid became confused at the information.

"My friend is a social worker. Her NGO is helping the girl." Zonia gave him full information.

"Will they pay the bill?" Dr. Shahid asked.

"Yes sir, of course" Zonia quickly replied, but inwardly she felt awkward at this situation.

"Ok then, it will be nice work. We should help the poor girl." Dr. Shahid said this with a dismissing smile.

Zonia nodded her head and left the office while taking a sigh of relief.

          ............................

Fatima was still on her way when she dialled another number.

Farwa was busy in her office. She was assembling the questions and information for her next day's show. She was busy in her file work when her mobile rang.

"Yup Fatima? What is going on?" she asked while shuffling her papers.

"Farwa, I need your help," Fatima said and informed her about Amna.

"Ok, I will arrange a show for Amna. Infact my tomorrow's show will be based on Amna's case." Farwa said while shutting her file and said in a resolute tone.

She disconnected the call and started her work on Amna's case.

                      ........................

Zonia smiled at Amna who was standing there with fear on her face.

Zohaib checked her and told Fatima that Amna had to be admitted in hospital for two days.

Zonia put Amna on bed and covered her with a quilt. After that, she turned toward Fatima.

"You should go to your house and take some rest. Such a long drive is surely exhausting." Zonia said with a polite smile.

"I'm anxious for her Zonia." Fatima said anxiously.

"Zohaib's night duty is in this Ward. He will take care of her. Trust me!" Zonia said while squeezing Fatima's hand in assurance. Fatima smiled at her and nodded her head.

                   .........................

Amna was lying on her hospital bed and observing everything in her surroundings. Night had completely fallen and every patient was sleeping. She saw every patient's face with disappointment and feeling of inferiority.

"They all are beautiful. I'm ugly and poor." Her innocent heart got pained at this comparison.

She again rested her head on the pillow with tears blurring her vision.

"They all are perfect and I'm an imperfect and rejected person of society." Another thought came into her mind and more tears pooled her eyes.

Morning came and Dr. Shaid came into the Ward for a round. Dr. Zohaib was still in Ward, waiting for Zonia to come and start her duty.

Dr. Shahid went near every child's bed and did conversation with a smile on his face. Children also smiled back and gave different responses to him.

Then, he stopped near Amna's bed. Amna was staring at his face which was now twisting into disgusting expressions.

"Who is this girl? " he asked Dr. Zohaib with hatred in his tone.

"She is Amna. Maybe you have seen her picture in the news."

"Okay" Dr. Shahid said with coldness and started checking her file.

Amna felt the distinguishing treatment of Dr. Shahid, and it caused a pang in her heart.

                    ........................

"Assalam o Alaikum to all my viewers! Welcome to 'Farwa's talk show'. I'm your host Farwa. Today, we are going to have our show about the misfortune girl Amna. You all have seen her in the news, you all know how she has been brutally beaten by MPA Asad's family." She paused and took a sigh.

Our society is filled with such stories. There are many children around us who face the same treatment and brutality. As a nation and as a responsible human, we should understand our duties toward these misfortune children. For the sake of humanity, we should understand the pain of other humans. Today, our guest is a social worker. She works under an NGO and she is taking care of Amna. Let's talk to her about this case and about our responsibilities towards such children".

Farwa was speaking while looking into the eye of the camera. In the end, she shifted her gaze toward Fatima who was sitting on the other side of the table.

They started the show by telling about Amna's case.

           ...........................

Whole day, Zonia kept on cheering up Amna by talking to her, giving special treatment to her but she didn't smile nor respond to her. Zohaib also remained in Ward and kept on trying to make Amna's laugh. But, he also didn't succeed. He knew the reason for Amna's sadness, but he didn't understand how to handle the situation. He was getting angry at Dr. Shahid.

Fatima visited her in the morning, and promised her to come in the evening.

"It is now injection time my child." Zonia said while bringing injection near Amna. She didn't flinch nor she got fearful with injection. She had faced so many things that injection was nothing to her. But the children near her bed, became fearful or started weeping.

Zohaib started pampering those children and Zonia injected Amna while saying sweet things to her.

                  .......................

"In the end, I just want to say that these children also have rights to live. They also have rights to enjoy their childhood. And if there is any child labourer in your house, then at least please don't become harsh on them. Our Prophet (P. B. U. H) has given strict guidance regarding such people of society. Our Prophet(P.B.U.H) has said.

"Those whom Allah has made your dependants are your brothers, helpmates and servants. Anybody whose brother has been made subservient to him ought to feed him with the food he eats and clothes him with the clothes he wears."

This is the saying of our Prophet. And if you read his life, you will come to know that he was extra kind and gentle with children. We all should seek guidance from his life. And as humans, we should treat the children with love and affection."

Farwa concluded her show while giving a professional smile to the camera.

After saying 'Allah Hafiz', the camera shut off and the show of that day finished.

                          .......................

Hooriya saw the whole show of Farwa and instantly dialled Fatima's number. She asked her about Amna's health and informed her that she is going to the hospital to meet Amna.

"Zonia! " Hooriya entered the Children Ward and called her name. Zonia turned toward her and a big smile etched on her face. Hooriya observed Zonia' face where the lines of tiredness were embossing her features.

"You are looking so tired my friend." Hooriya said this with sympathy.

"Dude, Today I have to do both shifts; day and night. So, these tired and irritated expressions are due to this twenty four hour duty." She said while yawning.

Hooriya smiled at this and stepped toward Amna's bed.

"Hooriya wait!" Zonia stopped her from going toward Amna's bed.

"Come with me for having coffee. I also have to tell you something." Zonia said. Hooriya nodded her head and went to a cafe with Zonia.

While having coffee, Zonia told Hooriya about Amna's sadness and feelings.

"Don't worry, I will deal with her." Hooriya assured her with a smile.

They both entered into Ward. Zonia started doing her work and Hooriya stopped near Amna's bed.

"What is your name, beautiful girl?" Hooriya asked Amna with a gentle smile.

Amna stared at her in disbelief.

"Me? " she pointed toward her.

"Yes, my child!" Hooriya said with a gentle smile.

"Amna" She replied with glint in her eyes.

"Waoo! A beautiful girl has a beautiful name!" Hooriya said this with excitement and awed expressions.

Amna shyly smiled at her. But then, her eyes landed on other children's faces in Ward, and sadness came into her heart. Her eyes became dull and her expressions became hurtful.

Hooriya noticed this whole change. She shook her head with disappointment. She glanced at every other child of Ward. Other children were from high society. Their clothes, facial expressions and way of conversation was telling of their social status. In ward, only Amna was from low society. That's why she felt inferior and sad.

"Amna princess, please tell me the reason for this sadness." Hooriya wanted her to speak.

"I'm ugly and imperfect. They all are beautiful and perfect." Amna said this while lowering her gaze.

Hooriya gently hugged her.

"So you think they are perfect and you are imperfect? '' Hooriya broke the hug and asked her with politeness. She nodded her head.

"Amna can you see the moon from the window? " Hooriya asked.

Amna glanced at the window and nodded her head. Full moon was in the sky.

"Is the moon beautiful and perfect?" Hooriya asked.

"Yes! " Amna nodded her head with eagerness.

"Amna, have you ever read Surah Falaq of the Quran?" Hooriya asked her. Amna nodded her head and eagerly started reciting Surah.

"Very good! You really knew it! " Hooriya admired her and she beamed at the comment.

"Have you noticed the third verse of this Surah? In the third verse there is Arabic word غاسق . Do you know Arabic language is a vast language? There are different meanings of one word?" Hooriya asked her at which she eagerly nodded her head.

"So, this Arabic word also has a lot of meanings. One Arabic meaning of this word is "moon". Let me tell you the translation of this whole Surah.

"Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.

From the evil of that which He created. And from the evil of moon/darkness when it settles.

And from the evil of the blowers in knot.

And from the evil of an envier when he envies."

So in this beautiful Surah, Allah is telling us to seek refuge from different types of evil in the world. And the third verse is pointing toward the evilness of this beautiful moon. This moon can create different mental diseases in us. That's why we called an insane person, "lunatic". It means that this beautiful and perfect moon also has an ugly and imperfect side. Every perfect person of this world has an imperfect side, and every imperfect person has a perfect side in his personality. We all have both aspects in our life. And this makes every human being equal. There is no superiority and inferiority in the real world. It is just the tricks of our mind".

Hooriya's mesmerizing voice and beautiful tone spellbound Amna. She nodded her head with a big smile on her face. All sadness, self conscious feelings washed away from her.

Hooriya noticed a beautiful and perfect smile on that bruised face of the girl, and instantly hugged her.

Zonia noticed the genuine smile of Amna, and satisfaction came to her heart. She knew only Hooriya could do this because, as a writer, she knew how to make other people smile or be sad.
